WHO Director-General Commends Uganda’s Response to Cross-Border Ebola Threat

The head of the World Health Organization visited Uganda and praised its efforts to contain spillover cases from the Ebola outbreak in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. According to officials, the DRC has recorded 515 confirmed infections and 91 deaths since mid-May, while Uganda has reported 19 cases and two deaths, most involving Congolese nationals crossing the border.
