Google Shuts Down x.cpe Botnet on 1.3 Million Android TV Boxes

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group reports it has dismantled the x.cpe botnet, which at its peak infected more than 1.3 million Android TV devices, including Google‑certified boxes. The company says Shenzhen-based Videostrong’s obfuscation techniques evaded screening, and the malware rapidly evolved from a simple dropper to a more modular design.
